Slot machine cheating
A long time ago, it was possible for players to cheat a slot machine. There were various techniques that were employed. Using different methods, a player could risk nothing and win a lot. In essence what they did was steal from the casino. Some of the most basic cheats involved utilizing ‘slugs’, which were round coin-like pieces of metal; tying a coin to a string or wire and removing it once it tripped the machine, and using a coat hanger to activate the mechanism that allowed the reels to spin. Some specific and popular methods follow.
Shaved And Stringed Coins
The shaved and stringed coin was a popular method of cheating. A player would take a coin and file it so that it could pass through the machine. The coin was attached to a string and a player would lower it into the machine, pull the arm, and the reels would roll. Because the coin was smaller than it should be and on a string, the player could then pull it out and use it again and again.
One ingenious method used light to confuse the slot’s sensors. This light would be shined into the machine’s light sensor, which regulated the machine. By interrupting the sensor, which kept track of payouts, players would be able to make a machine payout more times than it should
Casino Cheating Today
Because all slots utilize computer software and many don’t even take coins, it’s virtually impossible to cheat them. The only way to make a casino slot payout when it should not and pay more than it should, would be to coordinate your play with a slot’s programmer who had direct access to a specific machine.
